Gum Pack

Whats your the feeling you wanted your gum package to portray? How did you achieve this?

  • The feeling I wanted my gum package to portray is for people to buy it to make their breath like a cool breeze.
  • I think I achieved this by how I made the text “cool breeze” like cold wind that is in the gum and the icicles at the top that makes it show that it will give you a minty, cool breath.

What are you targeting your gum to? How did you achieve this?

  • I am targeting my gum to teenagers, and young adults that are beginning to go out.
  • I think I achieved this by he background that looks like a person and the way the text are designed.  It makes them feel that if they have this gum, they can become cool based on the gums name “Cool” Breeze.

What area of design did you use photoshop?

  • The area of design that I used photoshop are my gum’s background, the icicles, the mini side background (used gradient), and the “Cool Breeze” text

More marks are given to designs that are custom created and not just taken free vectors or free stock photography.  What part of your gum package did you custom design?

The parts of my gum package that I custom design are:

  • Background: used Radial Gradiant (GRADIANT TOOL) with Multiply layer blend and used the Hue/Saturation (CTRL+U) to change the colour of the background into blue.
  • Cool Breeze text: used white Forte font, and used wind (stylize->wind) to make the windy effect.
  • Icicles: used Paint Bucket Tool to fill the background black then used Elliptical Marquee Tool to draw a circle in the middle and filled it with white using Paint Bucket Tool. Used Extrude (STYLIZE->EXTRUDE) to make the pointy things.  Gaussian Blur (BLUR->GAUSSIAN BLUR) to make it a little blurry.  Polar Coordinates (RENDER->POLAR COORDIANTES) to make it stick at the top since it is shape like a circle.  Finally, I used the Hue/Saturation (CTRL+U) to experiment with the colours and make into light blue.

Gum Rough Copy

My rough draft on a paper is:

It shows how a person just had cool breeze and have now a fressh breath.

This picture above is the picture that i made using photoshop.  I decided to change my rough draft (above picture) into this because I feel that the one above looks like a detergent picture.

Who are you targeting your gum to?

I am targeting my gum to teenagers, and for young people because its called “cool” breeze which kind of makes people buy it to look cool.  Also, people that are dating and does not want their breath to stink.

What happens when you paint part of the layer mask… black? …white? …grey?

  • If you paint the part black of the layer mask becomes transparent that makes the picture behind appear clearly.
  • If you paint the part white of the layer mask, it becomes opaque that makes the picture behind don’t appear.
  • If you paint the part of the layer mask grey, it becomes somewhat opaque and somewhat transparent and reveals the picture not clearly but not too dark.
